Brevard County, known as the Space Coast, is located on the east coast of Central Florida. Brevard is located between the Indian River, Osceola, and Orange Counties, with the Atlantic Ocean on the entire east coast of the county.
Brevard is Florida's second largest county and is home to the Kennedy Space Center. Brevard County has some of the most gorgeous beaches along the Atlantic. Surfing is a popular recreation and has several major competitions held here every year. The McLarty Treasure Museum features the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, conveniently located approximately 18 miles south of Melbourne Beach. Miles of beautiful beaches provide opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, shelling, fishing, and sunbathing. Canoeing and kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon are also favorite pastimes. Visitors can relax with a stroll through several sanctuaries, nature trails, and preservations located throughout the county. Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas are great for family outings. Full-facility campsites and boat ramp are available throughout the Brevard County.
Brevard is only a 60-mile drive to Orlando attractions such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and International Drive. Central Brevard is an hour and a half from West Palm Beach and Daytona Beach, and two and a half hours from St. Augustine. With its space-age technology, beautiful beaches, and terrific tourist destinations, the Space Coast is the hidden treasure of Florida.
